A suspected
international narcotics smuggling syndicate operating out of Pretoria
was exposed after police raided their storage facilities, seizing drugs
worth R8 million and arresting eight people.
On Tuesday’s predawn raid, carried
out by members of the Hawks organised crime unit, came after more than a
week of undercover surveillance.
Police are believed to have been
investigating the west African-run organisation, thought to be the main
suppliers of cocaine and heroin in Pretoria, Joburg, Brits and
Rustenburg, for the past two months.
The syndicate is also believed to be linked to the smuggling of compressed dagga to the UK and Europe. testing
